Hello

I mentioned something exciting the other day, that had cost me money.

I also mentioned driving to Essex in the car, then trying (unsuccessfully) to return in the lorry – and now I can say why!

Let me introduce you to Inka:

I went to see her the other Sunday, liked her straight away and, when she’d come through a vetting, bought her. She arrived on Monday night πŸ™‚

She’s a six-year-old, 16.2hhΒ Irish sports horse and she’s skewbald (brown and white) which I’ve always liked. I’ve got a horrible feeling my saddle doesn’t quite fit so I haven’t been able to ride her much yet – but I’m looking forward to!

I also love the timing that I’m off for the rest of this week so can do more with her. It also meant I could make this:

It’s for my lovely mum, whose birthday it is today. It’s not as impressive as the beautifully-decorated cakes she made us every year when we were little, but I hope she’ll like it. I knew she’d appreciate a lower-fat cake so I made this carrot cake again and iced it with 50g Philadephia Light, 100g sieved icing sugar and some lemon zest – delicious.

We’re going to see Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy at the cinema tonight as a birthday treat πŸ™‚

Happy birthday Mum, you’re brilliant xx

Oh my! Inka is such a princess – I’m going all gooey and sentimental just looking at the photos. You’ll be such a beautiful pair πŸ˜€

And I would be very pleased indeed with that cake – when it’s obviously made with love, who cares about fancy decorations?

I’d love to hear what you think of the film – my Dad’s already seen it and he was on the fence, because he’s wedded to the idea of Alec Guiness in the role Gary Oldman now has.

    • Thank you! She’s stunning and seems such a lovely “person” too, if that makes sense for a horse!
My mum loved the cake but sadly there was a mix-up over times and we didn’t get to that film! Hopefully we will in future and I’ll let you know πŸ™‚

  3. She looks beautiful! Hope you have lots of fun with her this week, and happy birthday to your mum, I’m sure she’ll love that cake!

AHHHH ponnnnyy! Gorgeous i love irish sport horses, skewbald too! Good luck with her.

    • Hee hee, If I’d had a checklist of points for my perfect horse, Irish sport horse and skewbald would have been on it! When I went to see her, I was making myself ignore those and try to concentrate on whether I liked her anyway… and I did πŸ™‚
